Happy Friday and welcome to August. The summer is still going strong with plenty to do both in person and online this weekend. Check them out here and continue reading for some local stories and cozy, cuddly content at the end. Have a great weekend!

Local Happenings

  • The rebranding of the area now known as National Landing

  • The effort to make National Landing the first U.S. 5G Smart City at scale.

  • How D.C.-based, Black-owned art galleries are redefining spaces of belonging in a changing city.

  • You’ve probably gotten a targeted ad about it and it’s finally arrived. The Van Gogh Immersive experience opens today in D.C. at the brand new Rhode Island Center.

  • A cohort of DC theaters, including Synetic, have announced a vaccine requirement for when their doors reopen. A negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of entry will also be accepted. The policy will be in place through December 31, 2021 and is subject to change.

Georgian Word of the Week

Something to make you smile

  • Read this short, feel-good story about a library book finally returned after 50 years.

  • Look at this impossibly tiny baby goat.
